Just have a question I have a larson 16 ft open bow. I was going to lift the top section off useing a pully system/winch set up. Could i use the tie down areas to lift or would i break the glass around them ? Thought of roping them with slip knots and having the ropes go to 2 landscpae timbers crosswise and they would be linked to the pullys so i could lift straight up. ??

Is ther an easyer way ? I cant just lift a little and slide a board under. The front seating area goes straight down and is the same peice as the cap.

Help ? ? ?

I lifted my cap, but I wouldn't suggest using the tie downs. They are not strong enough to handle that amount of weight...no way. What I did was used straps and lifted it that way. You can check it out in my links. They are the left over tails from an old boat cover that I stitched loops into and ran a mini clevis through each and then onto a pulley. I used 10 pulleys to lift my top, and it's definitely the heavier portion of the boat, or at least equal to the hull.

oops!

Twintrades what part of the country are you in . I have an 18' larson and theres no way I would try to pull the cap off it but might be willing to help with yours :D. I also have a 16' crestliner that I may pull the cap off of but it isnt an open bow.

The pulleys only cost me about 2 cases of Corona ;). The nice thing is, I can lift the cap any time I want to :p
