After looking into a press and snap tool, the pliers type, and the dies for a set of vice grips, I came up with my own solution..

Parts needed:

Full Size vice grips (3 pack at Lowes $9.99)
JB Weld
Snap set from Rochford Supply (http://www.rochfordsupply.com/shop/Upholstery_Tools/Snap_Fastener_Tools/Snap_Set/index.html) or any type that works with a hammer and peens over the edge.

Set one snap using a hammer and die set so you can use it to line everything up on the vice grips.

Take striking die and remove outer slide, mount die in drill press or vice and use a hacksaw to cut the die from the shaft (Small piece on vice grips)

Place socket, snap, and die in vice grips with a small amount of pressure, just enough to hold everything in place. JB weld the socket and die in place, let it set overnight and voila... you have your very own snap press for less than $20.

A Complete die is shown in this picture for reference.
