Re: How to mount a Equp in an open aluminum boat??
You could mount items on a piece of plywood and use a quick clamp to hold it to the top of a seat.
You could also use an old cooler to mount stuff on and in and that is removable too.
The possibilities are endless you are only limited by keeping safety in don't. If you don't place structural safety or the structrual integrity of the boat in jeopardy you should be fine.
Right now I got a fishfinder/gps unit and a compass. I was thinking of building a little console and adding a fuse panel and toggle switches for the lights and bilge pump etc, etc.
I was hoping for some suggestions/ideas.
I was thinking on the seat ahead of me or right behind.
The cooler idea was pretty good to.

Re: How to mount a Equp in an open aluminum boat??
Here are a few pics of where I put stuf.......hope it helps.
The fish locator in this picture used to be one of those portable units, that holds the batteries in a water proof case and then has the screen mounted to the outside of the case. I extended the power wires and bought a $12 bracket that was made for the unit. Bolted the bracket down, and hid the waterproof case with batteries underneath my rear seat.
Here you can see where I mounted a 3-way toggle switch and the bilge pump switch.
Heres an overhead shot for reference (in th rear right of the boat you can see where I have the wires and batttery harness.
