I have 71 Evinrude 3 cyl 60 hp., it has only two mounting bolts. The plate just above prop is 1" below bottom of 15' v-bottom Fiberform surfrider. Am getting lots of spray towards corners of transom, some coming into motor well. Bolts are now about 2.5" from top of transom, any suggestions on how to raise motor effectively with only 2 mounting bolts?

Will need a pic. Why does it only have 2 bolts? Can't believe it hasn't ripped of the transom in reverse.

The 2 bolts are factory and are near the center of mount. Motor does not budge when in reverse or forward.

Take a look at this link

http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=ccf9f115d99eaacfb1abbb40d1064ca9

Specifically #6 and 10. This is the same mounting system as I have on my 67 60hp. There should be 2 bolts on each side (on top and bottom of the mount).
I've attached a pic of my mount. There should be a bolt in any of the top 4 holes and in the slot. I don't think there is a way to raise this motor. The hooks in the tiller need to hang over the transom. Have you tried different trim positions to solve the spray?

I have viewed that link many times, where do the two holes on 23 & 24 connect and how does that make it stronger if still only 2 holes connecting to clamps?

Yes, have tried all positions of trim, had everyone go to front of boat--still lots of spray directed back towards transom.

Re: How to mount engine higher

Tom mount these motors the clamp that I posted a picture of 1st gets bolted to the transom with 2 bolts on each side. The tiller then slides down in behind the clamp. The top of the tiller has the pins that screw in as seen in the pic. The bottom of the tiller has a plate that fits behind the clamps to keep it from flexing out at the bottom. The plates (red arrows) go behind the clamp.

Thanks for pics and explanation. So, I would have total of 6 holes in transom if I add the clamps.

The only bolts on mine are on the clamps. 2 bolts and the pin on each side.
