The title says it all.

Does the motor need to be trimed, or be a so far in the water? I don't understand mush about planing.

When I'm underway, the front of the boat goes way up and the back sinks in the water, making a vary big wave. Does not seem vary efficient.

Thanks

if your motor has elctric trim, try starting out with the motor trimed all the way in .that will force the bow down.once your boat gets on plane trim out to the most effiecent running .

more info, what type tri hull, what motor? there are lots of tri hulls, and 40 hp motors. what is your compression, and are you sure you have spark on both cylinders. also you are asking a lot out of a 40hp motor. if not running perfectly it may never plane. how many people in the boat, remote steering and controls, or tiller controled. just a few questions to get a base to work with. post a picture of the boat.

Needs photos of the set up showing depth of motor in water (below botom of hull) to even begin with suggestions. There are so many things it could be it is hard to know where to start.
