Plywood has been dried and epoxy coated. What is the next step before applying the carpet adhesive? Should it be wiped with acetone and/or sanded? I'll be using a latex marine carpet adhesive and marine carpet.

Farm, I'm coming up on the same point of my project and have been instructed to sand the surface. I'm not so much answering your question as I am hoping others pile in with info. for us both. I was just about to post this question on my thread.

If you used epoxy for your resin coats..then you have to Prep correctly .. ( depending on the epoxy ).

Yes .. scuff/sand your resin blush ( epoxy or poly does not matter ) with some 80G ...

Water based adhesives are not what im used to .. so I cant say ( you need a respo for the glues that Im talking about ).

I used an 80 grit on a random orbital sander....makes quick work of it. Carpet still sticking well, almost 2 years later.

There is One more thing about glue and Marine carpets..

A few years back I ordered a roll of Rubber backed Marine grade carpet..asked the rep to send me the compatible glue that was described within the data sheet of the carpet..

So I get the carpet ( nice stuff ) and the glue ( water based latex ) .. sittin around eating lunch right before the install reading the back of the bucket of glue for info sakes.. The glue specifically stated in bold NOT TO BE USED FOR RUBBER BACKED PRODUCTS . I kid you not lol. I called the rep and he had no Idea . I ended up using the regular killya stuff quick without a respo glue I have always used instead ;) .

Bottom line is READ the data/application data on the container of your glue before using...
