I am trying to replace the lower on my alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive.
I broke the shaft that drives the impeller. It broke at the ?O? ring grove. I can?t figure out how to remove the broken splined piece from the upper. I am thinking I will need to tap it, thread a bolt in and a slide hammer.

Thanks for any help!!

Thanks for the reply.
I tried that, no luck for me. I also tried taking 2 corse thread screws screwed in to the hole in the center where the spring goes. I got a good grip but no go. I can feel the shaft go up/down a maybe a 64 of an inch.

you're on the right track, can you get a small slide-hammer on the two screws you put in there?

i'd have to look at it to see what you're actually working with but i'd definitely be trying to figure out how i could attach my slide-hammer to the broken part of the shaft. i'd probably be drilling at tapping as well to get a good grip on it. if you can get a beefy enough screw up in there without drilling, even better.
