how to remove epoxy drips from gel coat

Hello, after installing my transom i have eposxy that came out of the bolt holes and ran down outer gelcoat and dried. What is the best way to remove this. I tried rubbing it down with acetone. Thanks

If the gelcoat isn't too dry (dry = porous = thirsty) you should be able to take a chisel and get underneath an edge and pop it off. If it bonded into the pores of the gel then you'll have to sand it off. Start going over it with 400 grit with a flat block and work your way up to 1200 grit wetsanding. Then buff it out with a rubbing compound and a wool pad..

You might try some Xylene. Be careful NOT sure what it does to Gelcoat but I KNOW it does a JOB on Epoxy and it is NASTY stuff. WEAR a respirator.
