So I am not sure but, I suspect I have trash in my tank. It is an aluminum/metal tank I recently purchased the boat and here is some basic history
1995 with 217 hours.....it sat for the last five years in storage with very little gas in tank. It was brought out of storage to the Marina where mechanics prepped the boat for sale putting fresh gas in tank not sure if they removed old or not going to try and find out today. Boat sat in water for five months with about 1/4 tank after being prepped for sale.
I would like to clean the tank out completely (on my fourth fuel filter in 6 hours) but, I am not sure how to go about doing this. There is no way to remove the tank without pulling the floor out of the boat so that is not an option. The hole for the sending unit is very small so I am not sure if there is some sort of special device that goes in to vacuum out the trash? or if you run a hose down the fill tube?
What is the best way to get the old gas but more importantly the TRASH out of the tank.....?

that's as big a hole as you are going to find. Once the gas is out, you put a rag on a stick and swab it out (clean with carb cleaner).

Consider getting an oil salvage company to pump it out for you. Ask around the marina.

"You don't drain the tanks, You just raise the bow of the boat so any water or debris goes to the aft end of the tank where the fuel pickup tube is, remove the tube and with a cheap electric fuel pump, some hose and a length of small dia. soft copper tubing, pump the water and crud off the bottom of the tank. In case you forgot, gas floats on water."

Thanks Don for this advice.....now to get the parts to make this device.....
