How to remove point cover on 35 hp johnson sea horse?

What is the best way to remove the point cover? I cannot remove the Point Cover (that has the inspection slot). It is rotated about 15 degrees and is so tight I couldn't remove it in order to get to the points better. It looks to be pressed into place and has two round pin slots on opposite sides, which are now not matching because of the rotation. Are these slots (half in cover and half in flywheel) there for some kind of puller to get the cover off to get at the points?

Would appreciate any help.

what year an model #,usually have to use a harmonic balancer puller to pull flywheel,step by step instuctions in top secret file at top of this thread
