How to remove the dash with gauges... should be easy?

I have a Hydra-sport 16ft X255 1992. I need to remove the steering wheel and another piece that covers the dash. Do I need to mark the position and will anything important be "shifted"? The piece that is right after the steering wheel, how does it come off? Also where is the VRO warning buzzer and how to test it!

Thanks for any help, I know this is mostly about a boat.

All past advice has been great!

Have you got the steering wheel off yet ? If you do there is the round piece that's called the bezel below it. It should be held in by 2 screws. To test the "buzzer", go back on the mtr and disconnect one of the tan temp wire sensors, turn on the key and ground the mtr wiring side and see if the horn sounds. Same horn for vro.

BTW I don't have the steering wheel off yet, but I assume it's just the one nut and off is counter clock-wise?

Steering wheel removal usually requies a block of hardwood, a hammer and a wrench. Once you have the nut removed a few sharp blows and a bunch of direct pressure will usually pop the wheel from the steering shaft.

As far as your VRO problem ........ I would suggest you post that in the appropriate outboard engine section as a separate question.
