How to remove throttle/shifter lever.

Im working on redoing interior on my 1990 four winns horizon 5.8 omc/cobra. I need to remove the throttle shifter lever to recover the side panel. I just the actual shifter handle off and assume the three Philips screws need to be removed to get it off. The screws are so tight you can't remove them without them trying to slip. Is there any trick to this or way around it? Thanks.

Thanks for the idea, I've never seen or heard of this. I actually broke a Phillips head bit on the screws earlier. I'll give this a try.

Went and bought impact screwdriver and it would not budge them.

most are reversable so make sure its the right way. maybe apply a little heat, only ideas i have
