Hi guys, I have a question? My brother is looking to buy a small 15' skiff. We checked it out last night and the owner let us know of a small leak at the front of the boat. It leaks he said when somone heavy is standing at the bow...not a bad leak...just a **** or 2. The leak appears to be coming from the hook( sorry i dont know how else to describe it) that you attach yor wench strap to at the front of the boat. The owner may have just always cranked the hell out of it, so its a little loose. Anyways is this something that can be repaired by him with a little fiberglass? Please help me out.

Most Bow Eyes are bolted thru the hull. find the nuts and remove the bow eye check for a crack. If none then put a little silicone around and in the holes and replace.

Do as suggested, and if there are no crecks, seal the holes around the bow eye bolts. I would suggest using 3M4200 sealer instead of just silicone...

Silicone will NOT last at all. If you can get to the bow eye from the inside .... you might want to unbolt it apply a liberal amount of 3m 4200 to the shat (or shafts) re0insert and tighten.
