Engine and stern drive: 1993 MCM V6 4.3XL I/O Alpha One with balanced shaft.
Engine serial: OF155752
Drive serial: OF240991
Engine Model number: 4-43L100GS

I think it's possible the fuel fill line from the bib to the gas tank may be contributing to some petroleum fluid leaking of some kind but I don't get a strong fuel odor in the engine compartment. I've had the boat only 3 years but I'm not sure how long that hose has been in there. I figure it couldn't hurt to replace it anyway. It has no numbering/lettering on it at all either so I don't even know if it is USCG alcohol/flame resistant.

1) How do I find out the ID measurement? OD is 1-7/8" approximate. Disconnect the bib end and measure the ID?

2) I understand it's a good idea to disconnect the battery before replacement and even remove it from the engine compartment to keep from going boom. Sound right?

3) Replacement looks as simple as unscrewing hose clamps on bib end and tank end, putting in new cut to size hose and rescrewing hose clamps on both ends. Does this sound right as well?

Thanks for any help.

Don,
thanks for the help. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot. I wasn't sure if this was considered an engine topic or a general topic. I get it now.

Thanks again.
