It is a 1993 60 HP tiller. I have all the bolts out and the bottom end is loose but I cant find where to disconnect the shifting linkage so I can get the lower unit all the way out. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

There is a combination bolt/pin underneath the bottom carburetor. It's accessable from the port side of the motor. If memory serves me correctly, it's a 3/8" head. A 1/4" drive socket with a long extension is helpful for getting it off & on. When reinstalling the gearcase, the bend in the top of the shift rod "leans" forward. A pair of 11" long needle nose pliers are very helpfull for re-installing the shift rod to the lever. Use the to grip the rod from underneath the lower pan.

-John

Thanks for the help. I was hoping it would be easier than that but I'll have to live with it. I cracked the lower unit after hitting a rock today. Thanks again.

The rock dented the cone that houses the prop shaft. It dented in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch and cracked it. If I get this welded will they need to pound out the dent or is there anough clearance? The prop turns freely and it didnt do any damage to the prop.

I got the lower unit out today. It goes to the welder tomorrow. It doesnt look as bad as I thought, although the crack is at least an inch long.

Brought it to the welder today and he said he can fix it. I concider myself lucky because it will be around $50.00 to fix.
