OK finally finished the deck. I decided to leave the access panel to gas tank just incase....made the panel, but unfortunately am just off in a few sections by less than 1/4''. I am putting the rug back which has rubber backing, so should I be worried about water getting down their. There are "flow hole" to the bilge from the tank area...so. You should have seen my first panel...Don't say it...I had to use two pieces for the deck and couldn't cut out panel from it...well I guess I could but geex summer is almost over.

Thanks

Joe, Can you create a drain hole from under the tank to the bilge? That is the best way to go. It will be very difficult/impossible to seal the hatch with caulk or anything else that is temp.

Do you have access to your fillerneck/breather/sending unit with the panel screwed down?

If so, I would screw the panel down, caulk the gaps and the recessed screw heads with something like vulkem 116, then glass a piece of cloth tape over the seam. Should you ever need to pull the panel you could just cut thru the glass tape, dig out the screw heads and pull the panel. The caulking will keep the resin from getting under the panel and 'gluing' it to the stringers or the adjacent flooring.

I assume that your floor and panel are already covered in glass cloth?

I don't have a window panel for the outlets/intake.. I could put one in though. Just like have full access since the tank is old. I made a drawing of the outlay...Like I said I do have two holes going to bilge...? Also thought that i would get a nice rubber mat to go under rug for added security.

Thanks.
