how to secure bimini to t top question

Need advice on how to lace the bimini cover on my T top. I had a nice one <br />until Ivan dropped a big limb on it and broke it up. Got the frame <br />repaired, and a new bimini. Now, it's time to lace the thing on. Problem <br />being I didn't pay attention to how it used to be, and now aren't sure <br />what's best.<br /><br />Do I lace each side independently of the others (insofar as the nylon rope <br />goes)? Or, do I try and do it with one super long piece of nylon rope?<br /><br />A problem, too, is the corner grommets. The tubing frame has rounded <br />corners, so a line put over the radius to give diagonal tension will just <br />slide off one way or the other. How do I handle this one?

inho. i would find center of material and frame on all sides, mark with sharpie. calculate how much rope you need to do 1/2 the top. start at the center on opposite side and start lacing. allow extra rope. get the 2 side laced loosly and then start the tighten alternate sides. may require 4 hands. work your way around until the end meet.

Rbigg,<br />I just laced mine up yesterday and here are a few pointers that helped me.<br />1. Center canvas on top.<br />2. Once centered secure with a few zip-ties.<br />3. Start lacing at center front of top.<br />4. Tie 2-3 overhand knots in lacing<br />5. From the top side pull lacing down until knot hits button.<br />6. Lace under alum. then bring over alum.<br />7. Lace to the left of loop you just made and bring through same button.<br />8. Take lacing to next button to the right and repeat<br /><br />It helped me to seperate lacing in half this will speed up the process. Once your half way tie lacing together and contiue.<br /><br />Make SURE you buy enough lacing!!!! My top was 5x8 and took damn near 100 Feet of lacing!<br /><br />Hope this helps!<br /><br />Tim
