Need advice on how to lace the bimini cover on my T top. I had a nice one
until Ivan dropped a big limb on it and broke it up. Got the frame
repaired, and a new bimini. Now, it's time to lace the thing on. Problem
being I didn't pay attention to how it used to be, and now aren't sure
what's best.

Do I lace each side independently of the others (insofar as the nylon rope
goes)? Or, do I try and do it with one super long piece of nylon rope?

A problem, too, is the corner grommets. The tubing frame has rounded
corners, so a line put over the radius to give diagonal tension will just
slide off one way or the other. How do I handle this one?

inho. i would find center of material and frame on all sides, mark with sharpie. calculate how much rope you need to do 1/2 the top. start at the center on opposite side and start lacing. allow extra rope. get the 2 side laced loosly and then start the tighten alternate sides. may require 4 hands. work your way around until the end meet.

Re: how to secure bimini to t top question

Rbigg,
I just laced mine up yesterday and here are a few pointers that helped me.
1. Center canvas on top.
2. Once centered secure with a few zip-ties.
3. Start lacing at center front of top.
4. Tie 2-3 overhand knots in lacing
5. From the top side pull lacing down until knot hits button.
6. Lace under alum. then bring over alum.
7. Lace to the left of loop you just made and bring through same button.
8. Take lacing to next button to the right and repeat

It helped me to seperate lacing in half this will speed up the process. Once your half way tie lacing together and contiue.

Make SURE you buy enough lacing!!!! My top was 5x8 and took damn near 100 Feet of lacing!

Hope this helps!

Tim

Rbigg,
If you email me with a Fax # I will gladly fax you a drawing that I made that will explain it a little better. I searched the web up and down and could not find it. I ended up looking at another T-top to figure out the knot.

Tim
tmatthews@mricemachines.com
