so i recently bought a 6hp johnson for my 12 foot jon boat and havnt been able to get her running. first time i tried to start it idled for a bout a second and would cut out. i pulled the carb for cleaning and inspection and i saw the carb float was the original and very deteriorated. i replaced it and reinstalled the carb with out knowing i had to "set the float height" after some research i think all i have to do is bend the metal arm on the float until the float rests parallel to the carb body. can any one confirm and also if you have any other insight it would be greatly appreciated as i am completely new to marine engines and really excited i found this forum!

That is correct. If your float valve has a rubber tipped needle, make sure you have the little wire clip in place.
