Re: how to set points gap and dwell ???
With the cap, rotor and ignition off. Loosen the distributor hold down bolt just enough to turn the distributor so that the wiper arm of the points is sitting on the nearest actuating cam lobe on the distrbutor shaft (if possible scribe a line at the base so you can return the distributor to this location before moving distributor). Tighten down distributor and adjust the points to the proper gap. Loosen distributor and rotate back to your scribe mark. Start engine and with your dwell meter, double check the dwell angle and adjust as needed. Opening gap on points lowers the dwell. Check and adjust timing if needed.
