how to set up 12v for fishfinder,navaids etc

having just bought a 16ft dory with a 15hp 1983 johnson i want to set up a 12v system to run fishfinder, radio gps etc.<br />what is the best way to set this up from scratch? is there a system on the engine that would charge the battery or would i need to trickle charge once used?<br />any help would be appreciated thanks...

if'n your engine is electric start then it has a charging system & battery..<br /><br /> an for what light amp load you say,, i'd use that battery for your acessories.. <br /><br />if pullstart only,, yes you'll need a battery an charge at home..
