I have a motorguide , foot control, 54 #thrust that has a 48" long shaft. I need to cut 6" off to make it a 42". Can this be done? If so, where can I find guidance?

Yes, it does have a depth clamp, but it sticks up too high when in running position and occupies too much space when it is lying down. Thanks

gotcha, I might have the same problem with my new motor but it was a heck of a deal. My best advice is to sell it and find a shorter one. I wouldn't mess with cutting, probably have a hard time selling later on. If you need an explanation for what length you need, check out motorguides fitting section online or cabelas. Good luck
