How to start a 70's Merc 165

Can I use this same method to start my 1975 Merc 165 without hooking up the wiring harness and ignition switch? Specifically wondering if the pin-configuration on the plug is the same as in this video.

It's real easy to do with a points system all you need is power to the coil and starter. I would not mess with the plug.

We all know where/ what the coil, 'n starter are....

I know where the coil and starter are, I'm asking for specifics (like the video above) showing exactly where to apply power/ground to start it like 86 Century suggested above.

I just don't have the wiring harness fixed and in yet, so I wanna know the simplest way of starting the motor without the harness and ignition switch.

Is there actually a problem with doing it like shown in the video, or is it just that there's an easier way?

Hi Guys:
Please see the video in my signature. If you freeze frame when required you should be able to figure it out. You'll need a cheap switch to make it work. You asked for a video!

If you have ever "hot wired" an older(pre-hei) car under the hood you can do your boat. It's the done the same way.
