You would have to go into the door and fabricate a metal shield above the lock mechanism to stop the slimjim from being able to access the locking mechanism.

Why are they breaking into an older Yukon?

You have to block the locking rods and mechanism....

What time of day is this happening?? Good alarm?

Get a pet Pit Bull or a Doberman to sleep in the Yukon!

no such thing as
break in proof
if there's time there's a way. many cars used a shield over the linkage, honda, toyota are a couple. toyota & honda have also used a plastic tube over there linkage that slides on the linkage. pretty effective as ya can't grab the linkage to manipulate it. some newer cars use cables. that leaves the linkage as not a viable means of attact. but any car can be got into. though some are easier than others. i use a alarm so at least i know if i've been breached......but i know of no way to outright stop it from being breached......only ways to slow it down.....which in the end is all that security is about. make it too difficult to get in and maybe the criminals will go criminalize somebody else......

Empty the car out and leave the door open. I did this with an old Prelude I parked outside my house. Every once and a while they would go through the ash tray and glove box and never get anything.

Another choice is to park it in a place where you can setup one of those deer cameras up high to sense them when they break in. If it flashes, all the better.

They also have alarms that will silently notify you on your key FOB provided you are within distance. this may give you the opportunity to know when they are doing it and set the dog out or some other way of letting them know you are aware..

i've got old cars that qualify for that treatment. i keep them empty of anyting of value to steal. so i thought. that idea worked good up untill just last week when the criminals came by and stole my darn lic. plates. got me a $100 parking ticket to go along with it for no tags. improper registration.....2.5 hours of leg work and the ticket was voided at the court house and $17.5 at dmv and i had new plates......

icein on the cake was the neighbor had a camrea on my truck that night too.... just no vidio recorder to save to :'(..... oh well. least the criminals didn't take my ash tray...........

Maybe a coil hooked to the battery connected to an electrically isolated cover in the door....

They slide in their slimjim in and get 50,000 volts

No alarm, maybe get one, or setup a camera remotely? I like the flash idea :) was also thinking about a shield over mechanism, why would they seemingly only get in on drivers side?
Oh man I have been busy!! Got a job last year, worked way too many hours, moved whole data center to SF and position was eliminated/laid off, grrrrrr....looking for job now again. Some great possibilities, w/ STABLE co.s around here.

find a place to add an off/on toggle switch,
connect one side to the horn relay the other to the interior light ground switch on the door post,
when the switch is activated the horn will consistently blow until the dome light goes out.........

the alarm as suggested would be the best bet
or maybe a snake in the glove box..........

or if you really want to get mean, I have lots of ways to add booby traps to your car, like if you want to find little pieces of fingers and such......... ;)

Cars are getting rumaged for anything that can be used for identity theft nowadays. We had a small rash of cars getting tossed for paperwork. the money, car stereos, all of that would be left. Just the stuff with names, birthdates, things like that were taken.

Just keep good insurance and keep the personal stuff out of the car. Nothing exists that can keep a determined thief out of the car. Alarms are pointless if you live in an urban environment that constantly has car alarms going off. No one pays attention to them...
