Re: how to throttle from helm without gear engagemenet?

Hi ozarkjeep,
I'm just new to all this (boating)
But i to have a force and it says the same.
Have you tried pulling the handle away from the mounting.
It works for me!
I find it easier to use my left hand on the lever as normal and use my right hand to pull the lower part of the lever (the square bit) out from the side of the boat and then push the lever forward.

Like i said it works on my boat and sure makes warming up the engine easier, but i can only get it to rev up to about 2200rpm, i think this is OK.
If im wrong im sure one of the more experienced gals or gents will help us out

If it's like (some of) the OMC controls, pull the handle out away from the base. The handle should slide back and forth on the pinion. When in the out posistion, the shift cable is disengaged.
