How to tighten steering

I have a 1967 6 HP Mercury. Runs great but it is a pain to troll with...the steering is to loose. Can anyone tell me where to tighten up the tension for the steering.

PS: this is tiller steering

Not sure if I can help but on my 20 HP 1981 Merc there is a steering adjustment immediately above the transom tilt mechanism. It has a 1/2 inch bolt head that if turned clockwise will increase the effort required to turn the motor. If the 6 is the same you can look from the side and see 2 disks that ride on a semi circular metal slide. The bolt adjustment will increase the pressure on these disks. Hopethis helps
