I found roto molded seats on ebay, but I'm not sure how to go about upholstering them. I did read where they hold staples well. Just not sure how to proceed with something like this.

Beleive it or not that material will support the growth of mold over time....mine do anyhow.

I have cushions on mine. That way you can just snap them on and off as desired. Easier to clean and makes storage a "snap" :D

Well, I was thinking along the lines of making the seat match some bench I can build and upholster.

Will contact adhesive stick to this plastic? I'm thinking about gluing 1" high density foam to the whole seat (maybe 1/4" to outside surfaces) and then glue on vinyl. But how to do it?

Covering chairs is a bit of an art, I have seen it done but never attempted it, I am pretty sure you can't just buy a piece of vinyl and glue it to the chair and have it look even close to presentable, pretty sure there would be some(alot) sewing involved.

If you have the money check around for an upholstery shop in your area, you may be suprised.

If you want to try it I would think you could glue the foam to the frame but you would have to staple the vinyl over that, as I said , it is a bit of an art to get it to look good.

Good luck.

Yeah, I would probably be better off having it done. Maybe I'll stop at the library (remember those big buildings we used to go to for information before Al Gore invented the internet? :D) and see what I can find in upholstry books.

Hey, it never hurts to lean a new skill in todays economy.
