Or if you want to get fancy you could use 3 relays and make the 3rd brake light only come on when the brake lights are on. Might even find a dual trigger AND relay if you look around a bit.

You don't need to use any relays. Just use 1 amp diodes to do the exact same thing. Only thing (like in the relay diagram), if brake lights are not active, anytime a turn signal is activated, the LED bar will flash also, which is probably not a bad thing.

Check the laws in Mich. about auxiliary lighting. There is where it might get touchy

I have looked at the laws, just now. All that I see is that a trailer must have clearance makers, each side, on the front, over X length needs two on each side, and must have at least two stop lights, visible from 500 ft when on. I think that I have all of that covered.
