Hello all- I have a Merc 3.0 Alpha One that is not currently running.
My local mechanic took it apart to diagnose water in the oil and found I spun a ring in one of the cylinders which scored it and hence prescribed a rebuild...but no way I can afford it at this time. I'd prefer to buy a rebuilt but need to wait till spring to make a decision, meantime I need to winterize it.
How can I do this without it operational?

Help in New England!

Huh ???????? Is that actually what he said? Never heard of spun ring before. are you sure he didn't say a spun bearing?
Neither item wil cause water in the oil.
How much water was in it?
