Re: how to winterize mariner 1982 outboard
Put it on the cuffs. Take the cowl off and any carb covers on it. Start the engine, warm it up a few seconds, disconnect the fuel and spray fogging oil into each carb throat till it kills. (one after the other in rapid sequence.) Pull the plugs, spray fogging oil into each plug hole and put em back in.
Make sure all the water is out of it. Store it down, not tilted up so it doesn't retain water in the prop. Check the LU lube for water. Now's a good time to change it anyway, but for winter you just need to withdraw a few drops and be sure it's free of water.
Put StaBil in the fuel, or better yet, siphon it off and burn it in the family bus.
Resist the temptation to wrap it up real tight. There will be condensation on the engine during the winter. It's better to let it breath and dry off on a daily basis.
hope it helps
