I have a new lund tach with a 8 wire plug in.. I know it has wires for the low oil,chk eng, hot, and no oil.It also has a light in it.I don't want to hook them up. I have a 1982 35hp evinrude and all I want to do is get the tach to work only. The colors are red, black, grey, yellow,on one side and white orange, blue and green on the other side. The reason I want to get this tach to work because I am playing with different props and don't want to over rev the motor and blow it up.ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE.. THANKS

Not too sure what you have, but in general, red is 12 volts +,black is 12 volts -,and grey is the 'sensor' wire for the tach.<br />DHP

Re: how to wire a tach[NO INSTRUCTIONS]

I have some pictures I can show you but can't get them loaded on here. If I had your email address I would send some pictures to you. The wire plug has 8 pins. I just need to use the ones just to make the tach work. I don't want to just guess and burn it up. I was looking on the web for a wiring diagram but couldn't find anything for the Lund tach..Any more ideas out there?? thanks
