I have an Ebbtide 2200 SS Fun Cruiser and am installing a fishfinder. I would like to use the existing power at the dashboard. I one of the switches is not being used because my boat does not have the fresh water system. I am planning on removing the plate below the dashboard to gain access. Does anyone have experience in this area on this boat?

The actual fish finder had an on off switch built in, no need to be redundant just hard wire to the battery.
.......The red wire to the instrument panel from the fuse box or directly from the wiring harness.....supplies power to the Off-On-Start switch in the console and usually is also a red wire over to the fuse block if your boat has one.
As DeepC said the unit comes with an ON-OFF switch.

Sometimes when running power thru the rest if the boat's electrical system it can cause interference or false readings on the screen of the FF. Most all mfgrs recommend wiring direct to the battery with an inline fuse.
