How/where to grease VP DP-SM U-joints

I'm trying to figure out how to grease the U-Joints on my VP outdrive.
I have a
2002 Cobalt
2001 model year VP 5.7 GSI
DP-SM outdrive

The manual explains that there are two lubricating nipples on the U-joints at point A in the picture.
I've turned this thing in all directions, and I can't find any grease opening.
How do I lubricate the U-joints?

Not sure which manual you are looking at, do you have a manual part number?, that's not even the type of ujoints you should have. Besides, the OEM ujoints don't even have grease zirks.

The manual is 7738812, but when looking up the number, I found this on page 3. That probably explains it :-0

I do have some grease that came out of the U-joints, which is what made me think they were refilled and some of the old grease oozed out (see pics). Is this OK?

Your ujoints don't have zirks. Not even the same kind as in the drawing in your original post.

So I should just leave them alone and watchout for noise during turns?

That's about all you can do. I'm not even sure where you got that manual, but it really doesn't sound like the manual for your model. Do you have the FULL model number or the Volvo serial number for your engine?

I have a 5.7GSI PEFS engine.
I got the manual by surfing the net.
If you Google the manual number, you will find it here for instance (I got it somewhere else, forgot where exactly)

Come to think of it, I should have checked the expiration date of the manual (it dates back from 1997).
I'm still looking for an updated version (not eagerly since I have a SELOC manual for my drive)

You do have the wrong owners manual for your engine, you can get the correct owners manual for free from Volvo, go to

Put in your model number 5.7GSIPEFS (no spaces) in the engine type box you will get the right one.

As far as having a Seloc manual goes, sorry about that, you have a knee pad, not a service manual.
