Remove u-bolt

Sand the the patch so that it is flush and can be covered with gel-coat or epoxy.

Remove wood block that bolt goes through on the inside of the hull

Sand the fiberglass on the inside

Add another patch on the area on the inside as it should have been in the first place

Cut a new block of wood and resin it into the hull where th bolt comes in

re drill the holes and install a new bolt and torque it down so it has no movement.

Just MO on how I would do it. What was the damage do you know. Looks like ether the fiberglass was added because the bolt was loose and someone did it to get it to stop moving or someone damaged it by cranking the hell out of the winch.

I suppose an 18 inch boat would be appropriate for a bumble bee.

Well you can use a heavy construction glue made for out doors, but since you will most likely be doing fiber glass and will have resin, mix up a few onces of resin and add some saw dust and steer....you dont want a past but just thick enough so its not runny any more. then spread it on the wood plank and stick it in place. You will wont to try and apply some force to it.

You are going to need a fiberglass repair kit, a gel coat repairs kit, prob a new u- bolt, sone acitone, sand paper, rags.

You should be able to get it all at a local marine store. The fiber glass repair kit is also at Walmart and if boating is real popular in the area Walmart may have everything you need.
