Last summer while working over around Cape Vincent, I stumbled upon a Glastron 170V, on a Really Bad Too Small a Trailer,....... With a Mercury "Tower of Power" 150hp............<br />I've been Looking for 1 for Years(the motor)....And here it was sitting in a field on the corner.... For Sale.........<br /><br />Earlier in the season, It had been badged at $1500.00........ 4th July weekend he lowered it to $1000.00......<br />I left messages on his machines for a couple of days, with No call-backs...... <br />On the 3rd,+ Last day of work in that area, I decided I was going to Buy that motor,........ For $700.00.......And That's what I put in my pocket that morning(along with a set of tires for the trailer in the back of my truck).....................<br />After Many calls to his voicemail,+ answering machine........After work, I went looking at the boat Again..........Calling Again.............Did a compression test..... Called again.....<br />Finally Gave Up,+ hooked up to the tooltrailer,+ Headed Home............<br />In the 10 minutes it took to get to 3 Mile Bay,..... He Calls.... OK,... I'll turn around,+ Meet you there.............<br />After a 1/2hr of bad mouthing his actually in nice shape boat,+ the sorry trailer,......... I felt bad, But,.. I offered him the $700.00............<br />After he stopped studdering,.... I headed for the truck....... He wanted me to "Owe" him the other $300.00..... Nope..... I'm leaving with Either the boat, Or my $700.00,.... No Owing.....<br />When I got to the truck, I checked my other pocket... $81.00.......<br />Will ya take $781.00..........No Owin'........DONE Deal..........After 2 trips accross the county, This was the Prize........<br /><br /><br />
<br /><br /><br />And, What I'm Hopeing is a Diamond in the Rough,...... The Motor........<br />Merc. 1500,... 150hp.. ser# 4122988....<br />I haven't found a Quality Manual for this motor yet.... Anybody know what I Should be seeing for compression #s ????<br />I started it on muffs where you see it,... The waterpump was Smoked........ Probably the compression test in the field..... 
<br /><br />But,.. It Started like No Other Merc outboard I've Ever owned....... Usually I have to Pump the bulb HARD,+ Choke the living $hlT out of 1 to get it started, 1st time of the day, anyway......<br />This 1,... pump the bulb, Hit the Choke button,+ Just Touched the key,+ It Was Running... Smooth............<br />Knowing it wasn't moving much water, I shut it down, oiled it up,+ hung it on a stand I built for it.......<br /><br />
<br /><br />To get rid of the hull,+ trailer, I struck a Deal with My little Lady........ If She Cleaned,+ Detailed the boat,+ trailer,... We'd put it on the lawn for $450.00,+ Split the cash.......<br />A couple days later, 1 of the Guys on My crew decided He Really Liked that boat........... He took it home for $400.00........ Done Deal..... GONE......<br /><br />What do ya Think,..???? $556.00 for a Seemingly Good Running 150hp, Tower of Power........<br /><br />Now I gotta go dig out that old 14' Glastron Jet-Flite I've got buried in the backyard.....
