Hi. I am new to the forum. I have a 1994 Thunderbolt fishing boat with a Evinrude 115 hp V4.
I have a question about the way it has been running lately. I sure would appreciate any help I could get because I dont know anything about outboards.
I have been fishing a few times this year and my boat ran just fine. Yesterday I stopped by our local Exxon gas station and topped it off with fuel. Then when I got out to the lake I was cruising out to my favorite hole when all of a sudden it just died. It started right back up and went another 3 or 4 minutes and then died again. I reached back there and pumped the bulb and it started up and ran fine for another 3 or 4 minutes, but it kept dying on me. Everytime it would die I would pump the bulb (which was soft), but when it was running it was hard. It wont stay running any longer than just a few minutes at a time. Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Thank you

either bad fuel pump, or carb problems. it burning the fuel you are pumping into carbs, and they are not refilling.

Before you start throwing parts at it, check the tank cap for a restricted vent, tank pickup, fuel line connectors for air leaks, lines for restrictions or a pinched line.
