Hp rated at crank or at prop?

When I was told on another post about the crank hp rating vs. the prop hp rating, what year exactly can anyone tell me did Evinrude first rate hp the prop? Did it begin in 1985 or 86 or niether one? Thanks.

About 99% were rated at the prop by the end 1984. There were a few exceptions such as the 140 in 1985 the block was changed then it was prop rated By 1986 the Johnson/Evinrudes were all prop rated.

Thanks Bob_VT. I am looking at quite a few posibilities in motors. I recently found yet another interest that is an 85 evinrude 120 that looks pretty clean and just wanted to try and figure out if it was a true 120 hp at prop. Thanks for the reply.
