I replaced the water pump and housing on my 2001 150 HPDI yesterday with no problems at all. I cranked the engine before beginning and all was well. Shut it down and began the procedure. after reinstalling the lower unit, I connected the muffs to test and and turned the key. The engine turned over and over but did not fire off. Opened hood, can't hear fuel pump. Tested spark and there is none. I can hear a strange noise coming from the area at the rear of the block (heatsink thing coils are mounted on. I don't have a lot of experience with this electronic arrangement). Can someone please help me diagnose?

Lanyards are in. The boat is set up with twins and the other is all good and runs. To simplify: I removed the spark control unit? to access the poppet valve. Replaced all components and ran the engine. It was fine. The next day I dropped the foot, replaced pump and housing and reinstalled. Now it has no fuel and no fire and the heat sinks at the back of the motor are warmer that those of the starboard motor when the key is in the on position but not cranked.

Any help or suggestions would be wonderful.

I cannot hear it like I can on the starboard motor so I think not.

I cannot think of anything you have done by dropping the gearcase, however its possible something was not properly connected or a fuel pump relay fuse blew when doing the poppit valve.
test the voltage on the red fuel pump wire to ground with key on engine off.
should have 12 volts.
