Re: HPDI engine problem

I looked at parts break down on boats.net I cannot see a high pressure regulator in th the hp pump only sensor where is the regulator fitted.
What is confusing me is the symptoms as given over all the threads were the same with the old hp pump and no change when new one was fitted even for a short period. The new one is still fitted but maybe the old regulator was fitted or does the pump come with a new one.

Thank you

Rodbolt also what controls the hp regulator is it mechanical or electrical if electrical could an intermittent oil pressure problem cause it to do what is happening even though nothing is showing on the diagnostic.

HP regulator is mechanical.
cant remember exactly what part of the pump assy its on.
did you ever check BOTH rail pressures simultaneously at the failure RPM?

Hi rodbolt
I checked the fuel pressure at the valve on the rail which I believe covers both rails as I did not see an other valve and this showed 50psi even when fault occured. Can you explain this when the diagnostic shows both pressures falling as previously indicated and is still the case.

Thank you

Re: HPDI engine problem

the 50 psi rail is the mediuym pressure rail and can be monitored with a guage.
the 625 PSI rail is the high pressure side. can be checked with the laptop or a digital voltmeter.

if you have 50 PSI and low PSI on the HP rail then either the HP pump assy or the medium pressure line is bad.

Thank you for all your help, with your info and my determination the fault has been found albeit a few months ago and it was the vst pressure regulator. What was wrong with it I have no idea as it seems to peform the same as the new one did.

Sorry for the delay in responding but the pressures of life have taken its toll.
