is there any difference or just the type of grease and check it more often?

i just got a little pond boat and already have a utility trailer that i'd like to use instead of having a 2nd trailer taking up space. did some searches, but came up empty.

Both types of trailer can use the same grease. I use "wheel bearing grease" on both. You also will find the same bearings used on some utility trailers as on some boat trailers.

You might want to consider adding bearing buddies to your trailer. They allow for more or less complete filling of the hub area with grease, which makes it more difficult for water to get in there and do its damage.

Use Marine grease.

What posible difference would it make whether to use marine grease or plain wheel bearing grease? As long as everything is greased wouldn't that be sufficient? How does water get in if everything is sealed and greased? Thanks.

Why is it necessary to use marine grease? Wouldn't just regular tube grease work? Thanks.

As long as it's water proof, ya automotive grease will work. But then again most people use marine grade grease on cars.
