Hull Cleaner

I'm looking for a good hull cleaner that'll take care of the bottom of a boat that's obviously been sitting in the water during the season. I've heard some good about Slimy Grimy. Does anyone have any opinions on this cleaner? How is it applied / removed? Does it work?

Never tried that. StarBrite Hull & Bottom cleaner works very well also.

Ive been using Slimey Grimey ever since I saw the marina on the St Croix river pulling slipped boats out in the fall. Turned the grungy white hulls back to snow white. Its awesome. All it is I believe is oxalic acid. I buy it in a tub, looks like a cool whip tub, Its a white crystel that you mix with hot water. its hard on the hands, wear gloves. Spray or brush it on , let it work. rinse. If you believe in wax you will have to re-wax... Bottom line is the oxalic acid works, ok to use on colored boats too.

I use SeaSense hull cleaner. Available at a reasonable price at Wal-Mart. I pour it in an $8 tank sprayer and apply it with that. I spray it on, let it work for a minute or two and then brush it off with a soft rectangular brush fitted on the end of a telescoping pole. After that, I rinse well. Works like magic.

It's not so much the cleaner as it is the contents. You'll want to check for a hull cleaner that has oxcalic acid as an ingredient. Save alot of elbow grease.

Save a lot of elbow grease and money. Mix some muriatic acid with water 50/50. Works like a charm, and it's cheap. Last time I got a gallon of muratic for about $3, makes 2 gallons of cleaner, I usually use less than a half gallon per season.

I have also used On & Off which I think is basically the same thing but 30x as expensive :facepalm:....Stunning results however.

x4 50/50 muratic acid. Wear a mask, mouth/nose filter, eye protection, gloves, and cover up.
