Hi all-

Does anyone know where I can find info on the hull construction for a 1972 Mako23?

Looking at a used boat that has some damage on the bow stem. Trying to assess how structurally sound (or unsound) and guess-timate the cost to repair. The white marks are from a missing roller on trailer. Those are gouges in hull not cracks.

I doubt you will find anything on the boat's structure, other than what you can assess for yourself.

I guess you are looking for a project . . . You will need to access the inside area of the bow as well as the outside to fix that boo boo.

Yup, going to need to be done both on the inside as well as the outside to properly fix it, post your message in the restoration section a lot of those guys are very good at this type of repair.

Suggestions on this type of repair?

Suggestions on how to properly fix it (ex., access the inside area of the bow as well as the outside) and other suggestions on this type of repair?

You are likely looking at a fair bit of grinding and then buildup with cloth and resin, faring with thickened resin and then re-gellcoating.
if this is a boat for sale the rest of it must either be fabulous OR it really cheap
are you interested in buying a fixer upper?
are you planning on fixing it yourself?

OR option C....a much sought after “classic” hull that needs a bit of TLC ;)

Unless it’s worn through, which is highly unlikely given the location, its simply road rash. Grind out, fill and gel-coat.

We have a number of local boat builders that do repair work as well. Guessing $400-$600 depending on current work load

Are you able to access from the inside as well? Work will require inside and out side. There is some major fracturing going on there. Does the owner explain what
happened?
Just like the guys said above.
