Hull sealer

I have a 15' alum. boat (rivets) with minor leaks and would like to seal before any major leaks start. Been reading abt. Gluvit epoxy sealer. Any one used it and did it work.....thank you

I know 3M 5200 will.

Thanks for your responce..........Will the 3M 5200 stay on rivets and if so how should I prepair the alum. to except this product. Will a good cleaning and sand with 100 grit work?

If the boat is leaking around the rivets then they are probably loose. You should tighten up the loose rivets before you apply a sealer. <br /><br />When I needed to tighten the rivets on my boat, I had a person hold a small block of steal against the rivet on one side while I gave a few raps with a hammer on the other side of the rivet. Worked pretty well for me. Almost completely stopped leaking. I didn't apply a sealer, so it still leaks a little.

I have used 3m 5200 sealant on rivets and it worked great.Sand the area clean and wipe with acetone before applying.apply to both sides but first put a dab on your finger and try to push it under the rivet if you can.Then put a quarter size dab on the rivet and wet your finget and smooth it out.By the way,this stuff is permanent so be careful.Charlie

My boat has floor in it so I guess best thing would be to put Gluvit on each rivet and seams from the outside........thanks for all responces.
