David walk away from the rotten wood if you want a boat with almost no wood inside then what you want is good old Starcraft :D. Aluminum hull aluminum stringers . The only wood is the deck and the transom and they are both a breeze to replace especially on an outbord model :D.

Re: hull types

chris craft commanders dont use wood...and the hull on some of them is close to 1" thick...you can buy a decent sized fixer upper under7-8k!! and the best part that most of the work would only be cosmetic..no stringers, deck or transom to replace....ever!!!

read this article of the hull construction on them...and the excellent fiberglass and resin they used.

David,
I recently sold a 1977 Yarcraft 14' trihull Rebel, open bow, with a 50 hp Johnson. When I replaced the carpet, I saw the deck was factory sprayed chopped fiberglass over plywood. The fiberclass was a 100 % complete seal on the deck and up the sides about 6 inches. except for any screw holes in the deck to attach seat bases it was totally waterproof. A solid boat.
My new-old '85 Starcraft rebuild now consumes both my spare time and spare change, but I love it !!!
