She is a '98 Aquasport 17.5 with 90 Johnson. I have owned the boat for about six months. I noticed today that the gelcoat is worn off from the boat being beached. What are the remedies? Is it a major problem? I have seen those stick-on hull protectors. Any good?

Any assistance is appreciated.

First get a Keelshild or keelguard.
If it is warn to the fiberglass I suggest a light coat of polyester resin or epoxy only on the bad are. Sand with 120 grit fist but not to wide so the keelguard will cover it.

Install the KeelGuard per instructions and then enjoy you just saved yourself some grief!

It looks like the worn spot is a dark brown color. Should I apply marine-tex, resin, or epoxy, or just put on the keelgaurd?

I have an 87 Sea Ray that had some beching scars. I apllied marintex over the scars and applied the Keel Shield. Looks good as new.

The dark brown is the fiberglass. If you can look down from the ski locker you can even see light through it.
