Bought a new 595c Combo sonar with gps and the "unimap" for the gps does not have Richland Chambers Res on the map, it's the 3rd largest lake in TX @ 44K acres, was impounded in 1987 and got ZIP from their email support and my phone call got a woman who was clueless and was supposed to call me back, that was a week ago.

I have since bought a hotmaps but am not happy I had to spend $150 extra.

Richland Chambers is not the 3rd largest lake in Texas. But I feel your pain, Garmin discontinued the G-chart so now I only have the 3 charts that I had or I can buy a new GPS that's compatible with their current charting format. The next GPS I buy(not a Garmin) will be compatible with multiple formats so I don't run into this again

I used Humminbird for their free transducer exchange and their service was top notch AND free as advertised.

Love Richland Chambers and Cedar Creek(Which is 4th largest) lakes. Great fishing and boating there....

Richland Chambers Reservoir
Texas' Best Kept Secret

A 44,752-acre reservoir impounding waters of Chambers and Richland Creeks for Tarrant County (Fort Worth) water supply and outdoor recreation. Located about an hour south of Dallas off of Interstate 45, it was built in the late 1980s. It's Texas' 3rd Largest Inland Lake. Many facilities are still under development. Current visitors will find public boat ramps, marinas, and a lakeside campground. It is a great all around lake with deep water for sailing, open water for skiers, and excellent fishing for native largemouth and Florida-strain bass, sand bass, crappie, coppernose bluegill, and catfish. Details at lake headquarters, Tarrant County Water District Office, FM 416 east of I-45/Streetman. Also accessible from Athens, Corsicana, Eureka, Powell, Kerens, Cayuga, and Fairfield.

Another reason to stick to my trusty Global Nav 12.

If I need a chart, I can get it free here: freeboatingcharts.com/

Keith,
Once you download the charts, how do you get them into your GPS? I have a Navman 5500 (seems to be a good chartplotter) that uses the c-map format. Do you save the chart to a user card?

I haven't done much research as my Garmin keeps working so I have no excuse yet to buy a new one. The above link list the Chartplotters with pretty good info on which charts they take. I think Furuno and Lowrance probably give the most options. I'm not real sure on some of the Lowrance that are preloaded with maps but also have a slot for memory cards. I'm wondering if you can transfer maps to the GPS via the memory cards and if so what type of Maps? I think they'll probably take the Navionics in addition to the preloaded maps. Of course another issue would be the quality and info on the maps. I've noticed my Garmin gives good detail when I'm running my coastal map but when I run my lake map it really is pretty basic and unimpressive. I run more time in the lakes than the bays so I'm going to search for something a little better in the lake detail.
