Humminbird down imaging problem

I just installed my new depth finder combo with di, and am having trouble. While trolling in 10-15 feet of water, the unit registered 700 ft! I lowered the frequency output, and this fixed the problem, except that the down imaging wouldn't work at all! All I get is a solid blue line on the bottom, even in a spot known to have good structure. I double checked my transducer connections and they're fine. The transducer is the factory model that came with the head unit. Any settings that I can change to make this start working? Btw, the unit was tested in a semi-clear, freshwater lake. Thanks in advance!

Re: Humminbird down imaging problem

There shouldn't be any frequency adjustment. Did you mean sensitivity? and there should be seperate settings for 200khz (2d) and 455khz (di). Typically, loosing bottom or (high reading) is water turbulance, but lowering sensitivity wouldn't help that. Were you seeing multiple bottoms on the 2d screen? Is the 2d seeing the structure the di isn't? I'd make sure the transducer is centered and parrellel to the bottom while boat in water. Reset settings to default, and retest. Have you checked to see if you have the latest firmware for your unit? If you still have issues, contact HB tech support. Maybe a defective transducer.

I did mean sensitivity. The 2d screen shows up great. I will recheck transducer to make sure it's centered and let you know. Thanks!
