Hava a bass boat without a speedometer. I noticed the fish finder has provisions for a speed transducer. Any good or am i wasting my time?

It's better than the pitot driven speedometers but not by much.

Actually it's a paddle wheel seperate from the ducer. Yeah, you can add it on as long as your FF supports the speedo and humminbird still has one available. Look on the humminbird site.

I have one with my Humminbird 575.The same paddle wheel fits a lot of different models.Mine is fairly accurate or seems to be.Look up your model on the website and you should find the part number.

I have a Humminbird matrix w/gps and a Impulse loran w/paddle wheel and I am impressed that they are always within 1 mph of each other. They at least give you a good idea of your speed.

i have a hummingbird 535 as well, but mine doesnt have a wheel? it is just a black transducer mounted at the bottom of the transom. i have never used it (just bought the boat and it came with it). will it still tell me the speed?

No Andy. You must use the optional paddlewheel to get speed. The tranducer only tells depth and water temp..

This is just one of the sites I have found to get one at, make sure that the models match your depth finder unit.
I know for sure that the one shows to fit your model if it is a 535 fish finder, and I believe it's $38, and you got to add shipping also. So $38 plus shipping. Or you can shop around you might find one cheaper.
You might be able to find one here at Iboats also. Hello in NY by the way, I was born up there.
