Hummingbird Depth Finder Problems

I have a HDR 600 Hummingbird Depth Finder. It reads fine in deeper water but when I get to 5 - 6 feet or less it reads 1.2 - 1.4 feet constantly.

Any ideas what it could be?

All other functions work well.

I have the manual and it is of no real help.

It probably has an offset setting that you can adjust however you want it set. (Mine is a 595C which has that setting) Some want it to read true depth, some want depth below the lowest point on the boat. Check to see where that is set, might be set for a larger offset than needed.

My offset is set to zero. I have tried +1 as well and no luck.

Seems to quick reading correctly at shallow depths. If I hit the set button and wait for it to go back to the depth reading page it will read the depth correctly for a few seconds. At deeper depths like 9 - 10 ft or above it reads with no issues.

Are you sure it's not set to display fathoms??

I've got a Garmin 431s and it does the exact same thing. It won't correct itself even if I go back to deep water, it flashes 1.1 or 1.2 until I turn it off and then back on.
