when I installed mine, I hooked up power only. Before the transducer was installed, it went into demo mode.

Try to unplug the transducer and see if it works in demo mode alone. if it all works out, replug the transducer and see if the problem re-occurs. If so, bum transducer or a short in the cable?

If the problem still happens, you may have a faulty head unit.

Re: Hummingbird problems.

Most likely not your transducer that's the problem.

Have you verified a good, clean power connection?

If so, do you have a friend, etc that you could connect the head unit to their Humminbird setup (a friend of mine and I have different head units but the mount and plugs are the same/interchangeable) so it would be a quick test to validate but I suspect you have some issues with the head unit itself.

Lastly, you could contact Humminbird directly and see what they say. I'm not sure they'll be able to help or will repair as it's a discontinued legacy product.
